C2C Wishghan CAL 2021: Introduction to the Tales of Whimsy. Let’s Get Crocheting!

Sharing is caring!

Whimsy has been waiting so patiently to share her blanket pattern with you!

It was my fault… my fingers couldn’t crochet fast enough! But, that’s all behind us and now it’s time to get started!!!

This blanket is based on the first book, Wishweaver, in my Tales of Whimsy series.

Every square/rectangle is based on a character, location, or important item in the story.

Here’s a breakdown of what we’ll be making:

  • 5 – Squares
  • 10 – Rectangles (of all sizes!)
  • 1 – Large Center Square (the size of 4 smaller squares together)

The small squares are 20×20. The rectangles range from 20×40, 20×60, 10×80! Like I said, all sizes of rectangles will be made in this one! The largest rectangle is a whopping 10×130 squares!

We’ll start from the most basic designs, that have less color changes, and work our way to the large Whimsy + the Boys center square and the long Ivy Borders! The files for each pattern will be attached to the posts in PDF format for easy download.

The first square will begin next Wednesday, March 24, 2021, and we’ll have a square/rectangle due out every Wednesday after that. This blanket will take us through mid-July!

What New Technique Will we Learn Making this Blanket?

Every C2C blanket I make, I try to do something different. For the Catghan, every piece was a square. For the Dogghan, we did squares and rectangles of varying sizes. For the Wishghan, we’ll be seamlessly joining the Ivy Borders together and the Bellflower Grove square with the Bouncing on the Bellflowers rectangle to make a backwards L shape.

Not to worry! There will be videos showing you how to do the Seamless Join and the Single Crochet Seamed Join that we’ve used for the other graphghans thus far on Ink & Stitches YouTube.

There will also be a walk-through step-by-step video making the first square, the Crawler Biscuit, if you are new to C2C crochet as well as a video to make the final border that will conclude the Wishghan.

Time to Gather your Supplies:

Want to Start Now???

Should you like to get started and go at your own pace, and want to continue supporting the patterns that I create, I have the full PDF of every single one of the squares and rectangles, plus how to join them, and finish with the final border (70 pages of fun!), over in my shops on Etsy and Ravelry

This pattern has been tested and re-tested by the wonderful members of the CAL Facebook Group. Be sure to subscribe to my blog with your email address (on the right side bar of your screen) so you don’t miss a post! You can also go on TwitterInstagram, or my Facebook page to get updates as well.

Here’s one from my testers!

I love to see what you’ve made from my patterns so don’t forget to share them on social media with the tag:

NOTE: When I designed this pattern, it was in an attempt to use up my yarn stash. Because of that, the exact amounts of yarn you’ll need are a bit tough to say. If I say to use red, and you have a burgundy color, use that! If I say yellow and you have a varying shade of yellow, use that! I didn’t want all the greens to match or the blues, etc… and because of that, this blanket couldn’t be any more colorful if I tried!

Sneak Peek at Next Week’s Colors:

I always take a photo with my two kiddos, James (7) and Lizzie (4). It’s a nice way to see how they’ve grown through the years of blanket making!
