About

Julianne Hildebrand Winter (J.H. Winter) is an author/illustrator based out of the Pacific Northwest. She is a member of SCBWI, writing fantasy books for children, from picture books all the way to illustrated chapter books and middle grade.

Set for release in September 2020, comes J.H. Winter’s debut chapter book series, Tales of Whimsy, about an orb spider named Whimsy who, in her first adventure, goes in search of answers as to what happened to the Wishweaver. Wishweaver is heavily-illustrated and will see art adorning nearly every spread!

Her first published work as an illustrator, Theodore and the Enchanted Bookstore: Tale of the Spectacular Spectacles, was published in July 2017 by Incorgnito Publishing Press. Starting with book four, Fairy Flights and Neverland Nights, she fills the shoes of both author/illustrator of the series.

When Julianne isn’t writing or illustrating, she is crafting up original crocheted amigurumi (plush toys) and C2C graphgans to share as free patterns on her blog, Ink & Stitches. She currently teaches how to crochet amigurumi through her many how-to videos on her Ink & Stitches YouTube Channel, and enjoys any opportunity to help others learn the craft.

You can see what J.H. Winter is currently working on, over on her blog, Ink & Stitches, and if you’d like to know how to own a copy of one of her books, head over to www.jhwinter.com. Along with her YouTube Channel, she can also be found on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, and Pinterest.

A NOTE FROM J.H. WINTER

Hello!

I live in the beautiful, evergreen state of Washington, with my husband,
two adorable kids, and our mischievous cat, Merlin.

Although, I find myself here in the Pacific Northwest, where it rains as often as it is sunny, I was born in Santa Clara, California. I spent much of my time working in libraries where books surrounded me at every turn. I love them, and from their pages, came an inspiration to write myself. It is such a wonderful way to dive into other worlds and spend time in them.

My real name is Julianne Hildebrand Winter, but my pen name is J.H. Winter. I have always had such a wonderfully long name, and I created the pen name for no other reason, then it would be easier for others to remember,
and much shorter to write!

The first book I ever wrote was at the age of 25, about a girl who lived in a barren world without color, Adeline and the Mystic Berries. From there, I branched out into the realm of picture books, where I became a member of Arree Chung’s Storyteller Academy. It was there the idea for Wishweaver first began. Eventually it became what it is today, a heavily-illustrated chapter book, but it’s fun to look back at where it started and how far it’s come since.

I hope you’ll stay and spend some time on my blog, whether it’s to find out what I’ve been up to creatively, or if you’d like to
learn how to crochet. I’m here to help!

Best,
Julianne
