DOGGHAN CAL – WEEK #1 – Cup o’ Chihuahua Tea
Welcome to my second Ink & Stitches C2C CAL!
This time around, we’ll be crocheting our favorite puppy dogs!
Get out your size H crochet hooks and what’s left of your yarn stash. You can take a look at where we’re headed in this CAL Introduction. Without further ado, I want us to dive in. I know you’ve all been waiting patiently (thank you, thank you!) for this to start. Well, let’s get this pup on the road!
If you follow charts, I’ve got that for you. If you like patterns, I’ve got that for you too! If you are new to C2C crocheting and would like to follow along with me on a couple of the squares, I’ve included the link to get over to my YouTube Channel video for this square.
I want to make this easy for you to learn, so novice or pro, you will end up with a wonderful pup-filled blanket celebrating our other favorite furry friend… DOGS!
Don’t forget to post pictures of your finished squares/rectangles using the hashtag for this crochet along on social media:
#DogghanCAL2020
I can’t wait to see your finished dogs, and eventually, your finished blankets too!
This pattern was lovingly tested by the wonderful crocheters over on the Facebook Group: CAL – Crochet A Long. Stop by, join the Dogghan group, and crochet with us!
While these Dogghan CAL posts will always be here for free on my blog, for convenience, I’ve also created one giant PDF file (nearly 70 pages!) for those who would like to purchase a copy of all the files together in one place. This file will also include how to finish the blanket by joining the squares together and creating a border too. No searching through posts necessary. Plus, it’s over there NOW, should you want to work ahead of the group rather than wait for each week’s new square/rectangle. You can purchase this pattern for a small fee here on Ravelry. You can also get it here, on Etsy.

Yes, I’d love to crochet an Irish Wolfhound. We used to have 3 of them and would absolutely love to do a C2C for that dog. This is my first time here and first time to try C2C crochet. Thank-you.

I love Irish Wolfhounds! Such a beautiful pup! This Dogghan didn’t include that particular breed, however, if I make a Dogghan #2, it will most certainly be there! The closest hound you get in this Dogghan would be the Afghan Hound. 🙂

I love this and the cat one so much !! Will you please consider a reptile one?
JHWinter
I had considered doing one of all the other pets that people have, which would include reptiles for sure! 🙂

Id like to see a pic of the finished project before I start.

Minor details 😛 Enjoy!
Hana
Very cute – both the yarn and your real furry model. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
JHWinter
Of course! Enjoy 🙂 I look forward to seeing your squares and rectangles!

Hi i am new to this never done one before what stitch do i do thanks, sorry for being thick
JHWinter
It is called C2C or corner-to-corner crochet. I go through making the entire first and second square with you if this is a technique you’ve never done before. Have a look here for Week #1’s video.

Good morning,
I am excited to start this dogghan. Being new to the corner to corner method of crocheting, I tried to watch your You Tube, and was unable to due to message “Video unavailable This video is private.” Is there something I need to do?
Thank you for your help!
Shari
JHWinter
Hi Shari! The video should now be all fixed! Just click on the link from the blog post and it will take you there. Thanks for letting me know! 🙂
Leslie Bryant
What brand of yarn are you using?
JHWinter
Hi Leslie! I generally use Red Heart Supersaver Solids, Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice, and Caron One Pound. 🙂

Why is not Great Pyrenees in this great Cal! They are the number one most popular farm protectors of chickens!
JHWinter
They are absolutely gorgeous dogs. The only reason they didn’t make it on this CAL is because there was a poll done on the CAL Facebook Group and the top dogs (pun intended) made their way into this graphgan. There can always be a dogghan #2 in the future 😉 I’d love to do the Irish Wolfhound myself!
