CATGHAN CAL 2019: Tying in Loose Ends + SC Border

I’ve had some questions during the CATGHAN CAL regarding how to tie in the loose ends (and there are quite a few of them!), as well as how to finish off each square with a border for connecting the squares together later on.

I have put together two separate videos over on my Ink & Stitches YouTube channel walking you through both of these techniques. One even has a sneak peek of tomorrow’s square!

Tying in Loose Ends VIDEO.

Single Crochet Border VIDEO.

I hope you’ll take a moment and have a look, especially if you are having difficulty.

As I said before, I’m with you every step of the way!

#CATGHANCAL2019

While this Catghan CAL posts will always be here for free on my blog, for convenience, I’ve also created one giant PDF file (over 50 pages!) for those who would like to purchase a copy of all the files together in one place. This file will also include how to finish the blanket by joining the squares together and creating a border too. No searching through posts necessary. Plus, it’s over there now, should you want to work ahead of the group rather than wait for each week’s new square. You can purchase this pattern for a small fee here on Ravelry or now over on Etsy too!

In the video for the SC border you mentioned that there is a long side and short side. I can’t seem to figure out which is which, is there any advice you can share to figure it out? Thank you in advance.

Hi Tahlia! The long side is the side of the square that runs along the side of the double crochets. The short side would be the top of the double crochets where you see the V-shaped stitches. I hope that makes sense 🙂

Thanks for the strep by step videos!
Re the first square, the overall picture of the finished blanket seems to have a cute dog contemplating the cat’s tail., which is finished in the dog square. Should the border at the edges, where the tail would piece together, be finished in the matching color ?

In the video I show that the single crochet border is done using color changes to match the square. You don’t have to, but I think it looks nicer that way 🙂
