WISHGHAN CAL – Week #6 Wisps in the Wind
WISHGHAN CAL – WEEK #6: Wisps in the Wind
As mentioned in the square with Flit, wisps are the little seedlings from the milkweed plant. When the pods break open in the end of summer, these gentle wisps are released to take their ride on the wind before settling into their new place in the ground. It is a beautiful life cycle.
Do you remember making wishes on these little seedlings and releasing them into the wind as a child? With hopes that your wish would come true and that the little wisp you wished upon would carry your wish where it needed to go to come true!
If you haven’t had a chance to read my children’s chapter book, WISHWEAVER, you can find it at most online retailers including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, IndieBound, Target, and Walmart! Written for ages 7-9, WISHWEAVER would make the perfect gift for the special kiddo in your life. Especially ones who love adventure, bugs, and magic!
Weyburn could only hope. Until then, they would wait.
The animals would continue the tradition of planting milkweed seeds so that more milkweed pods would grow. When the pods opened in the peak heat of summer to release their seedlings—such adorable little wisps—there would be web enough to catch them so the cycle could continue. The orb spiders made sure of it.

While this Wishghan CAL posts will always be here for free on my blog, for convenience, I’ve also created one giant 70-page PDF file for those who would like to purchase a copy of all the files together in one place along with a photo tutorial of connecting the squares and doing the final border. No searching through posts necessary! Plus, it’s over there now, should you want to work ahead of the group rather than wait for each week’s new square. You can purchase this pattern for a small fee here on Ravelry. It is also available on Etsy and LoveCrafts.
