CATGHAN CAL – WEEK #8 – Bowtie
CATGHAN CAL – WEEK #8: Bowtie
This has to be one of my favorite squares of the Catghan. Why? Because it reminds me of our cat Joshy, who was one of those cats who thought he was a dog. He was a bit on the rotund side, just like Bowtie, and would lay on his back, completely sprawled out, napping… or on his front with his back legs shot out in total lazy cat fashion. What an amazing, gentle, cat he was.
Josh would give you that all knowing look that said, “I know where the treats are hidden… I’m just waiting for you to look away.”
I hope you have fun with this one! Happy crocheting!

If you haven’t already posted a picture on social media, the official hashtag for this CAL is: #CatghanCAL2019
If you are just starting to work on your squares for the CATGHAN CAL, I suggest starting with Week One’s PEEKAMEW square and work alongside me in the YouTube Video for that week. Week Two’s Mouse Watching square also has a video as well. Once you work your way through those two, I have no doubt you’ll be ready to work on the more difficult squares (in regards to color changing only, the stitches are the same).
** I have new videos up on my YouTube channel that explain: How to tie in loose ends and create the single crochet border around each square. **
This pattern was lovingly tested by the wonderful crocheters over on the Facebook Group: CAL – Crochet A Long. Stop by, join the group, and crochet with us!
While this Catghan CAL posts will always be here for free on my blog, for convenience, I’ve also created one giant PDF file for those who would like to purchase a copy of all the files together in one place. No searching through posts necessary. Plus, it’s over there now, should you want to work ahead of the group rather than wait for each week’s new square. You can purchase this pattern for a small fee here on Ravelry or now over in my Etsy Shop.

I love this one, too! I have two cats that look a lot like Joshy, but I also have a black cat named Pagoda. Several weeks ago my husband came across a small sparkly black bowtie and he attached it to Pagoda’s collar. He looks like he is in a black tuxedo with that tie on. To our surprise Pagoda loved it. He will not allow anyone to remove that bowtie. I joke that he is all dressed up and ready for the Prom. He just needs a date.
Thank you for another adorable pattern!

Oh my goodness, that is adorable! I would love to see a picture of Pagoda with his little bowtie on. I’m so glad you are having fun with this crochet along!

I have fallen a bit behind on the CAL. I will post a photo on the FB page when I complete the block along with my Pagoda with his tie on.

That sounds wonderful! I look forward to seeing your Pagoda kitty 🙂
